4K Wallpaper for iPhone: Free 2160 × 3840 Originals (2026)
4K wallpapers for iPhone at 2160 × 3840: liquid glass, neon arches for OLED, marble and Gaudí architecture, rainy streets. Free 4K originals, no watermark.
In short: A real 4K iPhone wallpaper is a tall 2160 × 3840 pixel original, larger than every iPhone screen, so iOS only scales it down and it stays sharp. Below are the best Velpaper 4K wallpapers for iPhone, grouped by style, from soft liquid glass to dark neon arches for OLED.

Search for a 4K wallpaper for iPhone and most results are 1080 × 1920 files with a watermark in the corner, or screenshots of someone else's lock screen. Neither is 4K. A true 4K phone wallpaper is 2160 × 3840 pixels, 4K turned upright, and it is bigger than the screen of every iPhone, from the SE to the Pro Max.
Every wallpaper on this page is exactly that: a Velpaper original at 2160 × 3840, with no watermark. We grouped them by style so you can find your look first and check the details second.
What makes an iPhone wallpaper 4K
The number that matters is the long side. A 2160 × 3840 image is taller than the tallest iPhone screen, so iOS fits it by scaling down, and scaling down keeps lines and gradients clean. A smaller image has to be enlarged, and the lock screen's perspective zoom makes any softness easy to spot.
The shape differs a little: recent iPhones are slightly narrower than 9:16, so iOS trims a thin strip on each side. That is why the wallpapers below keep their subject near the centre. If you want the exact resolution of your model, our iPhone wallpaper size guide lists every one, so we will not repeat the table here.
Liquid glass and soft gradients
The quietest group, and the easiest behind a full home screen. Each one is a fold of tinted glass or a slow wash of colour with no object to crop.

Celadon Haze4K · Phone
Moon Silver4K · PhoneLiquid Light mixes lilac and warm sand in one long fold. Champagne Veil is two curved sheets of cream glass with a thin gold edge where they meet. Lilac Transmission is almost white with a lavender tint, and Celadon Haze drifts from seafoam to blue-green. Moon Silver is the darkest of the five, silver folds on near-black, which bridges to the next group.
Dark and neon for OLED iPhones
Every iPhone from the iPhone 12 onward, apart from the iPhone SE, has an OLED screen, where black really is black. Dark wallpapers with a single glowing shape look their best there, and they keep the lock screen calm at night.

Moon Ledge4K · PhoneElectric Violet Arch is the signature piece: a violet wall, an arch lit cyan inside and a pink back wall. Volt Blue Arch stays in one hue, navy to electric blue, and Jade Mint Arch swaps it for deep teal and mint. Peach Through Glass is warmer, peach light pressed against a rainy violet window. Midnight Flow and Moon Ledge are the darkest, made for an always-on display. There are more in our dark OLED wallpapers collection.
Architecture: arches, marble and Gaudí
Pale stone, real-looking shadow and plenty of empty sky. These are the light-mode favourites, and they suit a dark clock.

Portico4K · Phone
Nautilus Stair4K · Phone
Trencadis Wave4K · Phone
Peach Spiral Well4K · PhoneArch Pool is a keyhole arch at the end of a long white basin, mirrored in pale turquoise water. Portico frames the sea between white columns. Nautilus Stair coils up to a round opening, and Trencadis Wave is a long undulating wall in turquoise, white and honey mosaic, close in spirit to the bench of Park Güell. Peach Spiral Well turns the same idea into pure geometry: a peach staircase curling around a soft core.
Japanese ink and ukiyo-e
Two traditions with the same lesson for a phone: one subject, lots of paper. The empty top half is where the clock goes.
Ink Crane is a red-crowned crane in the reeds, its crown the only colour. Moon Heron catches a grey heron in flight under a small red moon. Plum Moon and Rain Bridge borrow the flat colour of woodblock prints, the second a long bridge under slanting rain. Shoji Moon puts a pale moon behind a paper screen and a pine branch. The full ink series is in our Japanese ink wallpapers article.
Rainy streets and a quiet sea
The most atmospheric group: wet asphalt, a lit window, a shoreline fading into haze. Nobody is in the frame, which keeps them calm.

Where the Sea Ends4K · Phone
Tidal Quiet4K · PhoneTokyo After Rain is a navy side street with magenta and teal light in the puddles. Rain Kept is deep teal glass with amber light breaking through the drops. The Night Is Soft is a lone shelter on a misty road, and Where the Sea Ends is a shoreline that simply fades into white. Tidal Quiet, turquoise water over pale sand seen from above, is free to download.
How to set a 4K wallpaper on iPhone
- Get the original file. Save it from the Velpaper app or the wallpaper's page on velpaper.com. Previews, screenshots and photos sent through messengers are compressed and no longer 4K.
- Open Settings, then Wallpaper, then Add New Wallpaper. Tap Photos and pick the image.
- Frame it. Pinch and drag until the subject sits where you want it, then check where the clock falls.
- Tap Add and choose a pair. Set it as both screens, or tap Customize Home Screen to pick something plainer behind the icons.
The full walkthrough, including fonts and widgets, is in how to set a lock screen wallpaper on iPhone. On pale wallpapers such as Champagne Veil or Arch Pool, switch the clock to a darker colour in the editor so it stays readable.
Browsing Velpaper is free and needs no account. Most phone wallpapers unlock after a short optional ad, a few are free outright, and what you get is always the full 2160 × 3840 file.

Questions
What resolution is a 4K iPhone wallpaper?
A 4K iPhone wallpaper is 2160 × 3840 pixels, the 3840 × 2160 frame of a 4K television turned upright. That is larger than every iPhone screen: the tallest, on the Pro Max models, is under 2900 pixels. iOS fits the image by scaling it down and trimming a thin strip at the sides, which keeps it sharp. A 1080 × 1920 file, often labelled HD, is smaller than recent iPhone screens and has to be enlarged, so it looks softer.
Are 4K wallpapers too big for an iPhone?
No. A 2160 × 3840 JPEG is usually a few megabytes, about the size of one photo from the iPhone camera. When you set it, iOS makes its own copy sized for the screen, so a large source file does not slow the phone down or use battery. The extra pixels give iOS room to crop the sides and let you pinch to reframe without the result turning soft.
Why does my 4K wallpaper look blurry on the lock screen?
Usually because the file is not the original any more. Screenshots, saved previews and pictures sent through messengers are compressed and often shrunk well below 4K. Download the original again from the source and set it from Photos. If the image looks enlarged, open the lock screen editor, tap the three dots and turn off Perspective Zoom, then pinch to frame it so iOS does not have to enlarge it.
Are these 4K iPhone wallpapers free?
Browsing and previewing on Velpaper are free, with no account and no subscription. In the iPhone and Android apps, most phone wallpapers unlock after a short optional ad, and a few, such as Tidal Quiet, are free outright. Every download is the full 2160 × 3840 original without a watermark. Velpaper also makes desktop wallpapers for Mac and other computers in 3840 × 2160 and 5120 × 2880.
Do these wallpapers fit Android phones too?
Yes. A 2160 × 3840 original is also taller than every current Android screen, including 1440 × 3200 flagships, so the same file stays sharp on a Galaxy, a Pixel or a Xiaomi. Android trims a slightly wider strip at the sides because most of its screens are about 20:9, and the centred subjects in this collection survive that crop. The Velpaper app for Android has the same catalog.
