Lofi Wallpapers: Free 4K Cozy Night Scenes for Phone and PC

A lofi wallpaper should feel like the moment a lofi playlist starts: late, quiet, a little nostalgic, with one warm light on. Velpaper's lofi set is built on that idea. Each scene has one small subject, a vending machine, a phone booth, a steaming bowl of ramen, sitting in a wide lavender night with plenty of empty sky.

There are thirteen of them in 4K: seven tall ones for iPhone and Android at 2160 × 3840 and six wide ones for desktop at 3840 × 2160. They share one palette, so a phone and a laptop can match without looking like copies.

What makes a wallpaper lofi

The look comes from the lofi hip hop streams of the late 2010s: anime-style drawings, a room at night, a loop that never asks for attention. A lofi wallpaper keeps the mood and drops the busy details.

In this set that means clean thin ink outlines and flat, soft cel shading. A very faint layer of VHS scanlines and two or three tiny glitch pixels nod to old tape without turning into noise. The palette is fixed: lavender, dusty pink, a deep violet for shadows and a single amber accent for the lamp, the shop window or the moon.

There are no people and no text. That is deliberate. A face competes with your notifications, and a sign would sit under the clock. An empty street with one light does neither.

All seven are composed for a lock screen: the subject sits low, and the upper two thirds stay calm lavender for the clock and the date.

Vending Glow is the one people pick first: a single vending machine on an empty corner, its light pooling on the ground, a small moon high above. One Bowl is the quietest, a bowl of ramen with a thin wisp of steam on the edge of a counter and a paper lantern far overhead.

Phone Booth stands alone on a quiet street under a thin crescent moon. Night Store puts a tiny corner shop at the end of an empty road, its window spilling warm light onto the asphalt. Pink Umbrella leans a closed umbrella against a low wall in soft rain, with a small puddle catching the light.

Rooftop is the most open: a water tank and a TV antenna in silhouette at the bottom edge and a big soft pink moon rising behind. Night Tape moves indoors, a cassette player and headphones on a desk beside a small glowing lamp.

Lofi wallpapers for desktop in 4K

The desktop versions are drawn for a wide screen rather than cropped from the phone art. The subject sits low and to one side, leaving the middle clear for windows and the left edge clear for icons.

Window Cat exists only in the wide format: a cat silhouette on a windowsill, looking out at a pastel night sky with a few city lights along the bottom and a small CRT glow on the sill. The other five are wide companions of the phone scenes, so Night Store on your phone and Night Store on your laptop share a street.

All six are 3840 × 2160, which covers 1080p, 1440p and 4K monitors without stretching. If you run a 5K display or two screens, our PC wallpaper size guide explains how far 4K goes, and on a Mac the steps are in how to change the desktop wallpaper. Every desktop wallpaper on Velpaper is free.

On an iPad that sits in a keyboard case, the wide versions work better than the tall ones, because the screen spends most of its time in landscape. Our iPad wallpaper size guide explains how each model crops.

Night city scenes with the same mood

Lofi does not have to be drawn. Some of the most lofi-feeling wallpapers in the catalog are night city images: realistic, but empty, wet and softly lit, like the view from a late bus.

Tokyo After Rain looks down a narrow side street after rain, dusty rose panels on one side, muted cyan windows on the other, long reflections on the asphalt. Violet Overpass follows an empty railway viaduct curving towards a lilac skyline at blue hour. Jade District is a canal at night between dark towers with amber windows, and Blue Signal shows a waterfront skyline from a wet promenade. If rain is the part you love, our collection of rainy night wallpapers goes further.

How to set a lofi wallpaper on your PC

On Windows 11 it takes half a minute. Download the desktop original, then open Settings, Personalization, Background. Next to Personalize your background choose Picture, click Browse photos and pick the file. Set the fit to Fill so the scene reaches every edge without bars.

For a little change through the evening, put all six desktop scenes in one folder and choose Slideshow instead. Windows can switch the picture every minute, ten minutes, half an hour, hour, six hours or day, so the cat on the windowsill can hand over to the rooftop moon at midnight. A Mac does the same with Add Folder in the Wallpaper settings.

On a phone, save the tall version to your gallery and set it from the system wallpaper settings. Set the lock screen first: that is where the empty lavender sky earns its place.

How to pick the right lofi wallpaper

Check the clock first. The drawn lofi scenes have a pale lavender sky, so the clock sits on a light background. On iPhone you can tint the clock darker in the lock screen editor; the night city images are dark and suit a plain white clock. Our guide to keeping the clock readable has the details.

Match by scene, not by colour. Every lofi wallpaper here shares the palette, so any two go together. Pair the phone and desktop version of one scene if you like a set, or mix Rooftop on the phone with Window Cat on the laptop.

Download the original. The thin outlines and faint scanlines are the first details a screenshot or a messenger copy smears. Take the full file from the wallpaper page.

One honest note: these are still images, not animated loops. A still wallpaper costs no battery and no processor time, which suits a laptop running a lofi stream in the background all evening.
